Snowflakes

Winter time is one of my favorite times to crochet things, but I must confess that it has really worn on me lately.  We have had snow on the ground for almost a month now so really the idea of adding more snowflakes to my home should not excite me, but these are too cute to not to make.

I am thankful that the weather is a lot warmer.  The snow is melting and I am so ready to see green grass, budding flowers and smell the fresh air of spring.  But before I say good-bye to Mr. Winter and say hello to Spring, I wanted to add another touch to my collection.  I came across a pattern for a snowflake garland, but I really didn't want to spend time crocheting 15 snowflakes for a Christmas Tree that won't be up for another 10 months...  so I decided to make little door hangers with each snowflake instead.  It's still Winter right?  These little snowflakes are perfect for decorating your home all Winter long.

You can put them anywhere you want....

Like this:

This darling little snowflake adds the perfect accent to doors,

Close up view.

your Christmas tree,

Front Door Wreaths or even your kitchen cabinet doors!

Each snowflake is approximately 3".

While they are not as diverse as an actual snowflake's anatomy, you can still enjoy the miraculous beauty of each one crocheted!  I am offering these darling snowflakes in a set of 3.  Each set sells for $6 per set.

Don't Forget! and Other Notes

Don't forget, I am having a give away until January 31, 2011.  See my post on http://craftersniche.blogspot.com/2011/01/all-moderncom-giveaway.html

I also wanted to mention that I am closing my Etsy Store on-line.  I decided it wasn't worth my time to have it, since I do orders for people I know and word of mouth.  I am currently changing the way my blog will look to show the design styles of the things I do the best.  At the top of the page you will see Home, My Store: Baby Hats, My Store: Canvas Hand Bags.  All you will need to do is click on those headers and you will be able to pull up all the styles of hats and bags that I can do.  There are limitless Color options and styles so I am not set on just one style.  I'll add photos as I do more of them so keep checking back!  I also have other things on hand that I need to sell, so I will add an additional page of things I have In-stock.  Will have to do that another time.  I am also going to offer a 10% referral fee to my customers.  If you refer someone to me, I will give you a 10% discount on a future purchase for your word of mouth referral.

When I first started I wanted to do review for people.  As I come across things I have personal knowledge of I will still post about those.  I find that a lot of fun and love giving people recommendations for others.

As always, thank you for taking time to read my blog!  I do love your comments, even though I am still trying to figure out how to respond to each comment made.  Any suggestions? :)

Crafter's Niche Giveaway

Normally I don't run out and buy a craft project and start on it the same day, but I did this week!  I saw an awesome project at Raising Homemakers, and I just had to make one for my give away!

This project I made is a Crochet Hook Holder.  It can even be a colored pencil holder for kids too.  This is great for traveling with your essential tools you need while on the road!  Raising Homemakers used shoe-string on their project, which looks fabulous too.  I didn't have shoe string on hand so I used ribbon.

I'm going to re-create how I did my project.  It was so simple!
{Go to Raising Homemaker's web-page and see how they did theirs.}

Crochet Hook Holder

Taking a place mat of your choice, roll up the bottom edge to about 4 1/2".
Pin in place to make sure it is even all the way across.

 Cut 30" of ribbon and folded it in half tucking the folded end under the edge, as show above.
Shoe string can be used instead of ribbon.
Make sure the shoe string ends are left showing.

Pin the ribbon in place, making sure it is sewn together when sewing end.
Sew each side first, then measure 1" from the sewn edge.

Using a ruler, mark 1" from each sewn pocket, as well as marking with pins all the way down.
I also used Fray Check on my clipped strings to ensure that it would not unravel.

Fit whatever you find useful in here to make your craft project easy for travel.

I left the last pocket bigger.  This way if I needed something wider, I had a spot.
You can also just continue sewing 1" pockets from one side to the next.

Here's what the holder looks like all rolled up.
What a beautiful project!
So now for my GIVE AWAY!
The winner will receive a crochet hook holder, compliments of Crafter's Niche.
{crochet hooks not included and will only mail item within the United States.}
